Synopsis

Doctor William Magnus' latest invention is a dimension monitor that allows him to look into parallel worlds. Tragically, the first time Magnus uses the dimension monitor, it explodes, killing him. Working from Magnus' blueprints, the Metal Men repair the dimension monitor, and use it to open a doorway into another world. Their desperate hope is that some method of reviving Magnus can be found. Stepping through the dimensional portal, the Metal Men find themselves immediately altered. Gold has become Copper, and also mute. Mercury is now green, and brittle. Lead is shiny, and lighter than air. Iron is soft and flexible. Tin and Nameless have become strong and durable. Platinum has become combustable. With Gold unable to speak, Mercury takes over the leadership position of the Metal Men.A sudden meteorite shower threatens the team. Iron's attempt to shield the team fails, but Tin and Nameless are up to the task. A strong wind gust propels Lead into the air, but Gold is quick to lasso him. Platinum begins to spark as she steps into a puddle of burning rain. Iron is quick to provide her safe passage over the pools of fiery liquid. The Metal Men eventually encounter signs of civilization. Within an alien palace, Mercury explains to the king why they have come. Magnus is looked over by the royal doctor. Gold finds that he can telepathically "hear" what the doctor says to the king. They have no method of bringing the dead back to life. The King, however, lies to Mercury. He will revive Magnus, but only if the Metal Men complete three tasks. Gold attempts to get Mercury to refuse, but Mercury ignores Gold, believing that he's trying to retake command.Their first task is to destroy the Mechan Monster, an immense machine menace, terrorizing the land. Upon engaging the metal horror, the Metal Men are immediately steamrolled underneath it. Having sustained no real damage, Mercury orders the team to alloy together, to present a unified front. This tactic fails, and the Metal Men...
